What We Are Looking For:


The Civil Engineer-in-training (EIT) works with the Project Manager, Professional Engineers, Designers, and Drafters on private residential/commercial development projects and public municipal projects.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Run hydrologic models to analyze and size stormwater facilities and pipe systems.
  • Coordinate with review agencies, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Prepare plans and project documents.
  • Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices, and the inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
  • Evaluate engineering alternatives and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform engineering interpretation of specifications and drawings, recommend and document design modifications, and coordinate with the design team.
  • Make an independent assessment of engineering problems and recommend solutions.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.
  • Research and follow jurisdictional requirements unique to each project.
  • Investigate and document downstream drainage systems in the field.
  • Perform quantity take-offs.
  • Use Autodesk Civil 3D to design plan and profile views for roadways, grading, and utilities including storm drainage facilities, sanitary sewer systems, and water distribution systems.
  • Perform complex mathematical calculations that require extensive knowledge of calculus, trigonometry, and geometry.

  • Thorough understanding of the land development industry and the role of Civil Engineering in it.
  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with other employees, clients, and industry professionals.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in all his/her work.
  • Ability to learn and retain new information quickly.
  • Dependability and thoroughness.


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering from a four-year college or university.
  • 1-4 years of experience in private land development consulting and design in the Puget Sound area, preferred.
